Bedroom Update!

Pray for us over here in Vacaville, California! There is a pretty bad fire that started and it has made its way closer to Vacaville. Luckily I heard that it was 80% contained by yesterday, but still, it went through like 8,000 acres, I m hoping that not too much wildlife was affected because it is just really dry brush that is up there on those hills. But please pray for those that had to evacuate their homes.

On a lighter note! So mr. Ace got a hair cut today and needless to say he wasn’t too thrilled about it. Mommy took way to long to get him into the groomer and if you know anything about Maltipoos’, they mat like no other, so his poor little ears got shaved today.

Not a happy camper to say the least!

So a little while ago, I was telling you guys how I am working on my bedroom to really revamp it and give it some much needed attention. Like I have said before and I hear from many other people as well, everyone tends to decorate their bedroom last because its a room that no guests will see just you so its at the bottom of totem pole. I had that same problem for a long time and I finally said a “enough was enough,” you know to the dog, whom cared a whole lot about my decision. I showed you the before of how I started, bare basics, but I love my bedding and it took me forever to acquire my whole look of the bed, which I will go into in another post.

So this is what I showed you last time, nice, but no personality on the walls and a little bit too much white for me. Another thing that really bugged me is the space between the tall headboard and above the short lamp. I love my lamps, but honestly they are a little short for this bed, but I am not going to give them up so I found a way to fill that empty space. Now technically I have had visions for my room since April but with a twenty-something budget, my revamps take a little bit longer than some other bloggers out there.

Please forgive my mess! But this is an in-progress photo! Back in May I acquired the two rugs on the floor in 75% off sale at The picture frames are from Ikea and I love them! I m going to take out the matte boards in there and put in a really subtle blueish wallpaper. If you didn’t notice either, I painted my room and I love the color as well.

I love how the frames fill up that empty space above the lamps and really give it some nice clean lines. The matte in the frames makes it look busy but when some wallpaper gets in there I think it will look great! My inspiration for this room was Erin Gates’s former and new master bedroom. If you haven’t heard of her you are truly missing out. She is the author of the Elements of Style book and website/blog.

The space above the bed was starting to look a little bare so I went out and got these little sea urchin wall art things at Target on clearance. I think after some debating, I m going to spray paint them to a chrome finish because all the colors in my room are soft and the black in them has turned them into an eye sore. I m also planning to change the knobs on my nightstand and dresser. The nightstands and dresser will have different knobs to make them look not so matchy matchy.

Here is my left nightstand and its decor, I m planning to add some flowers for some pretty movement. Probably some faux pink peonies, this picture is actually being featured on Pottery Barn’s website, because I snagged everything with my Pottery Barn Employee discount, everything was really affordable!

So there you have it! Progress is finally being made, the knobs, I’ll probably have to collect two a month until I get the number that I need. They are so expensive! They are at Anthropology and each knob is $10! Hello! Maybe I can not eat for a week so I can save up to buy them all at once lol! Right now this room is turning into one of my favorites and making me consider making some small changes to other parts of the apartment to match the direction the bedroom is heading in! Hopefully I can post a final reveal for you guys soon!
